Questions
Which IALA buoyage region does the UK use?
Region A. Heading in from seaward (the conventional direction of buoyage), keep red can-shaped port-hand marks to port and green conical starboard-hand marks to starboard. Region B, used in the Americas, Japan, Korea and the Philippines, reverses the colours.
How do I remember cardinal mark lights?
Think of a clock face. All cardinal marks show white quick or very quick flashing lights: north flashes continuously, east in groups of three, south in groups of six followed by a long flash, and west in groups of nine.
