1. Not affiliated with the RYA

DeckPrep is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). Content is written and cross-checked against publicly available regulations and standard seamanship references, but the RYA's own syllabus and examiners are the sole authority on what is required to pass the Yachtmaster Offshore exam.

2. No guarantee of exam success

DeckPrep is a revision aid, not a substitute for proper training, sea time, or official RYA course materials. Completing questions or lessons on DeckPrep does not guarantee you will pass any exam. Always cross-check safety-critical information against current official publications (e.g. COLREGS, Admiralty publications, RYA course notes) before relying on it in a real situation.

3. Accounts

You need a free account to use the lessons, quizzes and mock exams. Your progress is saved to your account and syncs across your devices. You must give accurate details when you sign up, and you're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page.

4. Acceptable use

Don't attempt to scrape, redistribute, or resell DeckPrep's question bank or lesson content, interfere with the Service's operation, or use it for any unlawful purpose. Regulatory text quoted or referenced within the content (such as COLREGS rule text) remains public material and isn't owned by DeckPrep — the surrounding questions, explanations, and lessons are.

5. Free and paid plans

The General Rules topic is free. The rest of the syllabus, mock exams, and full spaced repetition need a paid plan. Current plans and prices (in pounds sterling) are shown on the pricing page. We may change prices for new purchases at any time; a price change never affects a period you've already paid for.

6. Payment and renewal

Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The 1-month and 3-month plans are subscriptions: they renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. The Lifetime plan is a single payment that gives access for as long as DeckPrep is operated.

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account page. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again. If we raise the price of a subscription, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel before it takes effect.

If you're subscribed, you can switch to Lifetime at its full price at any time. Your subscription is then cancelled straight away so it never renews; time left on the period you've already paid for isn't refunded, as Lifetime covers it.

7. Your right to cancel, and refunds

If you're a consumer in the UK, you normally have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. DeckPrep is digital content that becomes available the moment you pay, so at checkout you ask for immediate access and acknowledge that you lose this 14-day right once access begins.

Apart from that, we don't refund a change of mind after access has started. This doesn't affect your legal rights — for example if the Service is faulty or isn't as described. If something is wrong, email us and we'll put it right.

If you've had a problem or aren't happy with DeckPrep, email us at deckhandprep@gmail.com within 14 days of buying and we'll look at it. We may offer a refund at our discretion. Refunds go back to the original payment method and can take 5 to 10 working days to appear.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DeckPrep is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including reliance on its content in an actual navigation or safety situation.

9. Ending your use

You may stop using DeckPrep, or delete your account entirely, at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who misuses the Service.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
